Daily Taraweh Reminder: Day 27

Taraweeh Reflection
Day 27: Juzz 27
Which of the favours of your Lord will you then deny?
Surah Ar-Rahman is one of the most powerful and poetic chapters of the Qur’an. It highlights Allah’s mercy, the countless blessings given to humanity and jinn, the balance of creation, and the realities of the Hereafter. The Surah repeatedly calls its listeners to reflect on these blessings through one striking refrain.
The Central Repeated Verse
The verse repeated throughout the Surah (31 times) is:
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
“So which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?” (Qur’an 55:13)
Reflection
•The verse addresses both humans and jinn (dual form kumā).
•After mentioning each blessing or sign, Allah asks this question again.
•It acts like a spiritual pause, forcing the listener to acknowledge the gift mentioned.
It is not merely rhetorical; it is an invitation to gratitude and humility.
Structure & Key Themes of the Surah
1. Allah’s Mercy and Teaching (Verses 1–4)
“The Most Merciful
Taught the Qur’an
Created mankind
Taught him speech.”
Reflection
The Surah begins not with creation, but with the Qur’an.
This shows that guidance is the greatest mercy.
2. Signs in the Universe (Verses 5–25)
Allah describes the cosmic order:
Example
“The sun and the moon move by precise calculation.” (55:5)
Other blessings mentioned include:
•The sky raised in balance
•The earth prepared for living
•Fruits, palm trees, grains
•Seas and pearls
After each set of signs, Allah asks again:
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Reflection
This teaches that every aspect of the natural world is a sign of mercy.
3. Human Mortality and Allah’s Eternity (Verses 26–30)
“Everyone on earth will perish,
And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will remain.” (55:26–27)
Reflection
This shifts the Surah from worldly blessings to ultimate reality.
Everything ends except Allah.
4. The Day of Judgment (Verses 31–45)
The Surah then warns humanity and jinn about accountability.
Example:
“The criminals will be known by their marks.” (55:41)
After descriptions of punishment, the same refrain appears again.
Reflection
The repeated verse now carries a different tone —
a warning that denying blessings leads to consequences.
5. Rewards of Paradise (Verses 46–78)
The Surah ends with vivid descriptions of Jannah.
Example:
“For those who feared standing before their Lord will be two gardens.” (55:46)
Blessings include:
•Flowing springs
•Lush gardens
•Shade and fruits
•Peace and beauty
•Companionship
Again the refrain repeats:
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Reflection
Here the question becomes an invitation to hope.
The Spiritual Message of the Repeated Verse
The repetition teaches three core lessons:
1. Gratitude
Every moment of life contains blessings we overlook.
2. Awareness
The universe itself is a sign pointing to Allah.
3. Accountability
Those who deny these blessings will face consequences.
Taraweeh Reflection Point
During Taraweeh, when this verse is recited repeatedly, imagine it as Allah speaking directly to us.
After every blessing mentioned, He asks:
“Which of My favours will you deny?”
Our hearts should respond like the companions of the Prophet ﷺ reportedly did when listening to this Surah:
“None of Your blessings do we deny, our Lord. All praise belongs to You.”
Surah Ar-Rahman teaches that life, guidance, creation, and Paradise are all gifts of divine mercy — and the repeated verse calls every soul to acknowledge them with gratitude.
