“Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them to grow, and pray for them. Indeed, your prayer is reassurance for them. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”

“Zakat expenditures are only for the poor, the needy, those employed to collect it, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, for freeing captives, for those in debt, for the cause of Allah, and for the stranded traveler — an obligation from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.”

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الْأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
يَوْمَ يُحْمَىٰ عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَىٰ بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ ۖ هَٰذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُوا مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَ
English
“O believers! Many scholars and monks consume people’s wealth unjustly and hinder others from Allah’s way. And those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah — give them news of a painful punishment.
On the Day when it will be heated in the Fire of Hell and branded upon their foreheads, sides, and backs: ‘This is what you hoarded for yourselves, so taste what you used to hoard.’”

“Those who criticize the believers who give charity willingly and those who find nothing to give except their effort — and they mock them — Allah will mock them, and they will have a painful punishment.”
