Daily Taraweh Reminder: Day 21

Taraweeh Reflection
Day 21: Juzz 21
Luqman’s Advice to His Son
(Qur’an – Surah Luqman 31:13–19)
These verses capture the timeless advice of Luqman to his son — guidance that forms a blueprint for faith, character, and conduct. They are powerful reminders for us during Ramadan and Taraweeh.
•Tawheed: Never associate partners with Allah
Translation:
“And [mention] when Luqman said to his son while advising him, ‘O my son, do not associate anything with Allah. Indeed, associating partners with Him is a great ظلم (injustice).’” (31:13)
Reflection:
The foundation of all guidance begins with protecting our Tawheed. Every action in life must be rooted in sincere devotion to Allah alone.
•Gratitude to Allah and kindness to parents
Translation:
“Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the final return.” (31:14)
Reflection:
Gratitude is a central part of faith. Recognizing the sacrifices of parents is directly tied to gratitude to Allah.
•No obedience in sin, but maintain kindness
Translation:
“But if they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in this world with kindness.” (31:15)
Reflection:
Islam teaches balance: remain firm upon faith while continuing to show respect and compassion.
•Allah knows even the smallest deeds
Translation:
“O my son, indeed if a deed should be the weight of a mustard seed and should be within a rock or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth.” (31:16)
Reflection:
Nothing escapes Allah’s knowledge. Every hidden act of sincerity matters.
•Establish prayer, promote good, and remain patient
Translation:
“O my son, establish prayer, command what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you.” (31:17)
Reflection:
A believer’s life revolves around prayer, moral responsibility, and patience during hardship.
•Avoid arrogance
Translation:
“Do not turn your cheek in contempt toward people nor walk through the earth arrogantly.” (31:18)
Reflection:
True faith produces humility. Arrogance destroys relationships and spiritual growth.
•Practice humility and gentle speech
Translation:
“Be moderate in your walk and lower your voice; indeed the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys.” (31:19)
Reflection:
Islam shapes even the smallest details of character — how we walk, speak, and carry ourselves.
The advice of Luqman combines faith, family values, humility, social responsibility, and personal character. If a believer lived by these few verses, they would embody a complete model of Islamic conduct.
